Week 8: Boarders' Bouldering

Westwood boarders have embraced the Food Bank appeal for Advent Calendars with great gusto and over 30 have been kindly donated in the last 36 hours: many thanks! Last night's film Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol which was well-received. The girls hosted Amelie very well.

Twelve of the boarders enjoyed bench ball, basketball and dodge ball before brunch in the sports hall. Sarafina and Katya enjoyed Orienteering today, whilst the rest of us headed off today to Bloc Climbing in Bristol for some bouldering with three lovely instructors. The boarders learnt lots of new climbing vocabulary (jugs, crimps, footwork and foot jams to name a few) as well as the importance of working out your route and following the right colour to the top. Some had a go at traverses and one or two even tried upside down in a very popular climbing centre full of beginners, intermediate and advanced boulderers.

 Class over and broad smiles.
We had a great afternoon and it was good to see many overcome their initial fears and to really step out of their comfort zones. Do check out our Twitter feed @KWS_Westwood. Have a good week!
