PREPARATIONS FOR THE ANNUAL HOUSE SONG COMPETITION WELL UNDERWAY!

This Sunday, the Westwood boarders were joined by all the day pupils from the house to spend 2 1/2 hours preparing for Thursday's always hotly contested House Song Competition.
The four houses - Hamilton, Beckford, Posnett and Cusworth - all rehearsed with vigour and enthusiasm, and even, with the exception of at least one of the boys' houses, with tunefulness and control!
We all look forward to seeing the amazing results this Thursday.  In the meantime, some photos to whet the appetite...
Many thanks as always to our great (and VERY patient) prefects for dragging the houses kicking and screaming through the rehearsal, to produce some not half bad songs and dance routines!

HAMILTON - Reach by S Club 7

Getting started - with prefects Katy, Martha and Hannah looking on.

Progress.  Prefect Katy still leading.

BECKFORD - Wanna by The Spice Girls

The house waits ... while prefects Ellie, Olivia x2, Rosie, Bella and Hattie discuss the next moves.

Anxiously the prefects assess the reults of their rehearsal.

POSNETT - Rock DJ by Robbie Williams

At first, the boys don't look that enthusiastic ...

... but soon find their feet.

CUSWORTH - Grease Lightning from the musical Grease

An alternative line-up on stage.  Prefects Owen, Ollie, Matt and George look on.
Ollie should feel at home ... having spent three years in the West End as Billy in Billy Elliott!

Ollie prepares the stage for the pupils' 'freestyle' section of their performance!

Good luck to all the houses on Thursday ... and watch this space for photos of the actual performance.

7th FEBRUARY WESTWOOD PUPILS HELP WITH FRIDAY WORSHIP

It was great to see so many Westwood pupils helping Mr Mainwaring in Whole School Service to present the theme of family, and promote the charity Hope and Homes For Children which the Senior Choir raised money for in their '40 Spires Challenge' just before Christmas.

'Space Geek' Sam finding out why he is part of Mr Mainwaring's 'family.'  NOTE: Sam is NOT a space geek - he only knew what NASA stood for.  In reality it is Mr M who is the space geek, as he admitted to the whole of Westwood on Friday.

Brother and sister Matthew (Year 8) and Chloe (Year 7) prove to the rest of Westwood how well they really know each other.

And the Rev, Mr Hollywell and the Headmaster also get involved!

FEB 5th 2014 WESTWOOD HOUSE CHARITY FUNDRAISING

Westwood pupils get ready for the LEPRA workout!

Already lots of pupils have collected money to support LEPRA, a health and development organisation whose mission statement is:

"To work to restore health, hope and dignity to people affected by leprosy, tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS, blindness and other health conditions exacerbated by stigma and social discrimination."

Year 7 girls (l tor) Holly, Eliza, Ella, Soraya, Freya and Libby proudly display their LEPRA envelopes containing the money they have each raised.

So far we have raised over £1400.  Really well done.
