Westwood's final weekend in Advent

We continued our building-up for Christmas theme in Westwood with Gingerbread cookies baking on Saturday morning. Charlotte, Jacqueline, Kimberley, Monica, Sarah, Sarafina and Supriya made over 100 biscuits and decorated a good number of them! These yummy Christmas biscuits were enjoyed by the whole house whilst they watched 'Mean Girls' chosen by Noelina and Praeasha; the film also carried the seasonal theme and the romantic ending seened to get some viewers rather excited!

Flour, golden syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, ginger and an egg per team!
 Monica adding just enough spice!
Sarafina nearly ready to use the seasonal cutters!
 It's all a bit gooey!
 Finished products!
 More to decorate!
Jacqueline proved to be very artistic!

We set off for Swindon Outlet https://www.mcarthurglen.com/en/outlets/uk/designer-outlet-swindon/#/ at 10:30 for our Christmas Shopping Trip. Within four hours many shops had been visited and the boarders seemed chuffed with their purchases. The outlet is built in what was formerly a Great Western railway work and there is a STEAM museum adjacent to it. The had even decorated the display train and there was also a chance for a group sleigh photo!

Brass band performances of Christmas Carols are very traditional in the UK.

 Where's Santa?

 See you in 2019!
It's been a great weekend and we wish all our boarders and you a very Happy Christmas and all the best for 2019!

Tis the season to be holy...

Welcome to the season of Advent! This weekend saw our boarders embrace the season of preparation in a number of ways. Saturday was a day of decorating the house which, with the magic touch and dedication of Mrs. Curtis, now looks beautiful and very 'Christmassy'. Other boarders enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Bath Christmas Market throughout the afternoon, before indulging themselves in a Christmas get-together in the evening. Celebrations baosted an array of pizzas, party snacks, atmospheric lighting, music and the evening movie, Home Alone.

Sunday delivered on the continued festivities, with an afternoon trip to 'Bath on Ice' where the boarders had an enjoyable time ice-skating and snacking in an Alpine Christmas resort. This was a precursor to this evening, where the whole Kingswood boarding community plus guests came together to welcome the season of Advent with a special service in the Chapel. This was followed by a beautifully prepared Advent Dinner where the boarders were treated to a sumptuous fare and Christmas Quiz, courtesy of Mr. Duke.

Saturday: Ready for action...

The meal following the service was a real treat!

The penultimate weekend of the term is now over. This week we look forward to the Boarders Concert on Tuesday night and an evening watching the Drama Department's performance of Treasure Island on Friday; all of this against the backdrop of preparation and arrival for the forthcoming Christmas season. Thank you for continuing to read the blog; we look forward to sharing our next entry soon.

Thirty days to go and counting!

Saturday morning saw Christmas decorations being made under Mrs Curtis's watchful eye ahead of next week's Christmas Party. The boys enjoyed games of table tennis, table football and UNO.

Ivan terrified of the +4 card!
Ryan may smile, but Rajul's about to win!

 Pompom production!

Full concentration on the dĂ©copatch task from Praeasha!
 Looking good Sarafina and Sudipti!
Lala, Tsering and Monica giving their full attention to the baubles and decorations!

This weekend has been Kingswood based. Ivan, James, Rajul and Marco had rugby matches and the rest of the House headed off to enjoy the delights of Bath's Christmas Market and the crowds! The boys choose last night's film starring Dawyne 'the Rock' Johnson. Skyscraper proved popular.

This morning, after breakfast, the Chaplain took James, Rajul and Sarafina off to church in rare November sunshine. A great team effort today with collecting provisions, prepping, setting up and laying tables, cooking and tidying ensured we all contributed to a delicious lunch of Fajitas and ice cream. There were tears along the way from Jacqueline, Monica, Supriya, Ryan L, Tsering, Stan, Suruchi with onion chopping! The very clean plates were testament to how yummy the food was and Kezzy's and Charlotte's sweeping skills ensured the room was returned to a very tidy state. It was great to see the whole house pitch in.

How many peppers do we need to chop?
Hohona, Kezzy, Noelina,  Nina and Sudipti did a grand job setting up!
 Time to cook!
Ryan and Stan making sure the wraps will be warm!
 VoilĂ !
 Beverages
 Lunch is served!

A local brand close to Westwood hearts!

In an attempt to run off lunch the following enjoyed four aside football, touch rugby (Year 7 humbling Year 8!) and finally some Kwik Cricket. A top day had by all.
