Sunny, but cold!

It has been a relatively quiet weekend. A good number of girls, Sasha, Rachel, Katya, Monica, Sudipti, Nina, Praeasha, Dawn and Noelina embraced the cold conditions in matches against BGS - some teams were successful. Vladislav, Robert and Vic played hockey for the victorious U13B team.  All those who wanted to shop in town got to town and Mr Duke settled back in the boarders' lounge enjoying Scotland beating England at rugby, which happens about once a decade! Saturday evening's film divided opinion, but Geostorm was the title.

After a gentle Sunday morning which included breakfast, some sport and brunch we braced ourselves for the walk to the cinema to see Black Panther or Greatest Showman. The group enjoyed beautiful skies despite the coldness. The walk down is not their favourite activity, but many ate a good amount of popcorn having taken some exercise! The majority watched the new Marvel film. The chat on the bus back to Westwood suggested both had been well received.

Mrs Duke has been baking for tomorrow morning's weekly sale of cakes and we celebrate Connie's and Perry's birthdays over the next two days! We are off to the Netball at Bath University on Friday evening and many Year 7 and Year 8 pupils will be involved in the annual Model United Nations as secretaries. Update to come from Mr Thatcher next week.

Yuma's Wyvern Award

Congratulations to Yuma on her Wyvern Award for going that extra mile to serve the Kingswood Boarding Community! Hopefully more Westwood boarders will follow suit!

Sunday 4 February 2018

A weekend based around Westwood..still full of fun!

Captain of Boarding, Rachel, writes: Westwood has had a vey busy weekend this week, from sports fixtures to the activity on Sunday. 10 girls in Yr. 7 & 8 played netball this week, and were very happy that they got to go to town afterward. Sunday was very relaxing, with the boarders staying in Westwood and cooking lunch: fajitas followed by ice cream.

Whilst the cooking team was casting its spell in the kitchen Mother's Day Pop Up cards were being made under Mrs Duke's expert idea. Great job Angel, Ayomikun and Dawn.

The cooking team starts to understand the challenge and there are tears from the onions!

 Synchronised frying of peppers!

Dasha and Ishika preparing the salad with a bit of attitude and swag!

 Kezzy: Is this enough cheese?
The team prepared 5 huge onions, 16 peppers, 16 chicken breasts and a salad for the 32 diners! On each table there was guacamole, salsa, sour cream and cheese. The Marshfield ice cream also went down well! A really lovely meal and great team work displayed.

The fajitas went down a storm and silence descended on Westwood as the enjoyment set in!

 The tidying team in action!

 I want to break free!
 Life skills being learnt!

Not always the most activity, but very necessary!
 Room being put back together!
Second session of the craft activity
The cards look lovely Monica and Marco!

At tonight's Boarder Meeting held by Miss Wright, Head of Boarding, Yuma was awarded a Wyvern Award for her Service to the Kingswood Boarding Community

At the meeting the Bake Off winners were also announced. Katya's, Praeasha's and Ellie's YouTube cake won the Westwood Category: well done, girls! Thanks to Sasha for making the Westwood Bake Off video.
