Westwood House Music Practice

A good number of Westwood boarders were involved in sports fixtures against Queen's College Taunton (boys' hockey) and Bristol Grammar School, Bristol (girls' netball). All the matches were well contested and pupils survived the tough weather conditions. We celebrated Tae-Tae's birthday in the evening whilst also watching Ice Age 5.

This morning a good number of boarders enjoyed competitive games of benchball and indoor football before brunch.  The pupils needed plenty of energy before House Music Practice from 2 - 4:30 pm which involved all the day pupils, too, in four venues with the creative minds, which are this year's Westwood Prefects who are responsible for the choreography. The competition is a closed event, but takes place on Thursday and is the 'cultural highlight' of the Westwood year. Each house has its own song and dance routine.  The pupils work with four of five prefects each. Posnett will be performing Maroon 5's 'Sugar', Cusworth are taking on 'Uptown Funk You Up' by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, Beckford are tackling Pharrell William's anthem 'Happy' and Hamilton are doing ABBA's classic 'Dancing Queen'. Here are some action shots from today, which evince the energy, some lack of timing, but a whole lot of fun being had. Thanks to the wonderful prefects for keeping the pupils on task. Improvements were definitely made. Who will win?

Today's rehearsal schedule

 Keep in time!
 Great energy from Hamilton!
Beckford breaking it down, group by group!

We were delighted to welcome Miss A Wright the Head of Boarding and Mr G Opie the Deputy Head.

A wonderful time was had by all with some great entertainment ranging from magic tricks and beat boxing to jokes and exquisite violin playing.

All of the boarders performed in one way or another displaying the great range of skills within the house.
