Revision and Kayaking in glorious sunshine

Year 8 pupils have applied themselves quite enthusiastically to sessions of supervised revision this weekend ahead of their examination week. They are all set for the English paper tomorrow.

Yesterday Katya played for the U12 tennis team and Vladislav had his debut for the U18 B team! They both did well. Last night's film was chosen following an idea from Suruchi for the Captains of Boarding to pull three films from 30, chosen by all the other boarders, from a hat. They unanimously voted for Iron Man. Some Year 8 pupils opted to revise, but they all enjoyed a break for pizza and squash.

We were blessed with fine weather today, but before heading off on our Kayaking trip Year 8 pupils again applied themselves well in the library. With brunch in our bellies, we headed to an outdoor pursuits centre established in the late 1970s. The lead instructor, Tom and his 3 colleagues went through a very thorough safety check on buoyancy aids, helmets and ejecting oneself from the kayak under water. The boarders enjoyed games requiring them to bump each others' kayaks and to build a raft of kayaks. There was also a fair amount of splashing and some pupils ended in the river. They did several miles and the quiet on the coach journey back told of tiredness! Check out the photos documenting the fun had by all.

The boarders did a great job!
Everyone had to introduce themselves and jump twice whilst others held their kayak steady - trust being engendered.

A few even took a dip at the end of a top day.
