The Spring Term - Episode 1: A Dog's Life

We were delighted to welcome back our Westwood boarders this week after the Christmas holidays. On behalf of the Westwood community, we wish all our readers a happy and prosperous 2018!

Business resumed as usual this week, readjusting to the demands of timetabled lessons and planned activities. Our first Saturday evening together began (as far as the entertainment went) on an existential note; our boarders indulged in the sweet and thought provoking delights of novel turned film: A Dog's Purpose.

From entertaining ideas of reincarnation to the very core of commonality itself, our viewers were challenged academically and spiritually to contemplate life's great unfolding...through the eyes of a dog. Sunday, by a happy coincidence, continued the animal theme (albeit by name association only), as Rachel - this term's joint Captain of Boarding - writes:

"Westwood went to 'Freedog' as their Sunday trip today, and after an hour of free time in the main trampolining area we had a lesson on basic parkour. Tom and Perry were very good at parkour, and for some others it was tricky, but everyone tried their best. At the end of the session we had the chance to jump off a stand into a foam pit. Most people had a go, some going backwards and doing flips into the pit. The boarders were very tired after, and very quiet on the bus back, but fun was had by all."

An important safety briefing to set the tone...

...before the fun commenced!

Kezzi and Nina flexing their leg muscles.
Perry, meanwhile, is struggling to get to grips with things, much to Tom and Will's amusement.

DJ Dasha is baaaaaaaacckk and means business!

We also see the replenishment business being enjoyed fully by Marcus, Monica, Sophie, Katya, Sasha and Kezzi!
However, for Yuma and Hohona (right foreground), there was no time for replenishment, only fun and exhibitionism!

Part II - Skills and thrills!
Kenneth: "No fear!"
Vlad: "No problem"
Ishika: "No way near hard enough!"
Sarafina: "No is just 'on' backwards, and I...am ON this!"
Bath time for Ryan, Dasha and Lala. Connie is also in there somewhere...

As Rachel notes, it was a tiring but fun adventure! Our boarders will rest well this evening in preparation for the week ahead; we hope that, as well as a dog's purpose, they can find a little something of their own this week as well. Until Episode 2...
