Visit from Old Kingswoodians from 2008 and Avon Valley County Park

After examinations, Westwood Sports Day, the Hike and Westwood Open Morning, we have all been feeling a little jaded. The sun has been out since late last week and we had great weather for our visit to Avon Valley Country Park. http://www.avonvalleycountrypark.com/ A short walk, a game of catch, obstacles, sights of various cattle, hawks andRhea birds (cousins of the Ostrich) were followed by an ice cream and more slides and outdoor activities. The pupils kept well hydrated and needed sun block.

 It's for young children, Wilfrid!

We also had a surprise visit from Carson, Gary and Jackie who arrived in Year 7 and boarded in Westwood in 2008. Gary was awarded the Heart of Westwood Prize for embodying the spirit of the House for being unfailingly kind and helpful. The boys have just graduated and are all hoping to complete Masters in the UK and Hong Kong respectively. Mrs Mainwaring and I were thrilled to see them and they enjoyed some nostalgia. Mr Duke is still using the table tennis bat given to him by Gary in 2009 because he used to spar with Gary frequently. It is still in good condition and frequently used.
