Week 13 - Battle hardened mortal engines

The penultimate week of the half-term has come to an end; it has been a busy weekend for our boarders. After the dizzying heights of the annual Green Park Concert celebrations on Friday evening, Saturday brought a little respite with town shopping and the Saturday night movie: Mortal Engines. A post-apocalyptic tale of predatory city machines, Mortal Engines was a dramatic conclusion to the day and a film enjoyed by all.

Today, our boarders became mortal engines of a sort, preparing for an afteroon of Battle Archery at Avon Valley Country Park. Needing courage, character and a degree of strategy, our boarders engaged in team battles and adventure, demonstrating a hardiness that would otherwise have remained hidden. Please enjoy the pictures below capturing the course of the afternoon. We hope you enjoy perusing them and look forward to updating you shortly on events bringing the half-term to a close. Until next time...

Beach Clean at Porthcawl

Life in Westwood is cool!
Captain of Boarding, Ryan, writes:
Saturday meant revision for Year 7 before going to town. Some of the boys were in cricket teams. The film, Aquaman, was really enjoyable. We headed on Sunday to Porthcawl in Wales to help clean up the beach with Mr Musgrove, Mr Brown (Art), his son, Mrs Patterson and Mr Amner. We are so delighted we can help save the planet as we know how much rubbish humans create each day.
The trip is linked to sustainable development and Eco-school campaigns to support environmental protection. We know sbout the importance of being active and we all used a lot of energy today in our efforts to make the beach safer and cleaner!
Instructions on how to beach clean effectively from Mr Musgrove.
Teams armed with pickers and plastic bags
We were blessed with amazing weather...yes, this is actually the UK in May!
