Week 6 - Midnight Sun and Trampolining Fun

As our boarders quietly anticipate the opportunity to rest and recuperate over the forthcoming half-term, another opportunity-filled weekend greeted them. Competitive and physically challenging sports fixtures on Saturday morning/afternoon were counter balanced with opportunities to bake and decorate Halloween (albeit a little premature) themed delights in-house:

Carefully decorated Halloween cupcakes!

The corridor is due for a dusting...

Baking and decorating was followed by a relaxed, public transport driven trip to town, where boarders replenished tuck supplies and took time out to be. This evening continued to mellow the spirits with pizza, cupcakes and our movie: Midnight Sun.

It seemed fitting - after the emotional highs and lows of the movie - that Sunday brought with it the chance to light up an rainy day with a Trampolining session in Bath. Our boarders walked into town, guided by Mr. Thatcher and the luminescent Mrs.Curtis, enjoying some time together crafting all manner of moves and mayhem on the trampolines!

A variety of trampolining challenges to conquer!

An expanse of trampolining fun!

This final week will inevitably bring a degree of fatigue as the boarders navigate the challenges which will take them to the break. Nevertheless, they can reflect on a very positive first half of term. The Westwood Staff have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the boarders and we have been privileged to share some lovely experiences together.

We would like to thank all of you currently following us on Twitter (@kws_Westwood); your ongoing support is warmly appreciated and we hope you are enjoying the updates on what life is like for a Westwood boarder. Finally, we wish all of our readers well and hope that half-term is a time of rest and renewal for you all. We look forward to sharing more with you after the half-term holidays.

Week 5 - Open Morning, Ice Hockey and chilled Sunday

We broke with protocol this weekend by heading out of Westwood on a Saturday night to watch some professional ice hockey in Swindon as we got behind the Swindon Wildcats who were taking on Gillingham's Invicta Dynamos. https://www.swindonwildcats.com/ Before departure we welcomed many potential new families to Westwood on their Open Day tours, sadly in the rain, but our guests were made by friendly faces. Max leaves a friendly message in his dorm.

All the day and boarding pupils were such a credit to the School and particualr thanks to Jacqueline, Eleanor, Angel, Kimberley and Charlotte who kept everyone in good cheer with delicious White Chocolate Chip Cookies - delicious!

After rugby and hockey matches finished we headed by coach to Swindon. There was a great atmosphere as the Wildcats dominated the match to win 4-0. It was lovely to have the company of few day pupils and our prefects, Johnny and Jasmin.

 In anticipation!

The match lasted three twenty minute thirds and the breaks offered hot dogs, chips and other refreshments.

 Victory sealed - go Wildcats!
We woke on Sunday to glorious sunshine and even hot air balloons in the air. James, Ryan, Monica, Sarafina and Kimberley headed to church with Reverend Hull. The rest of the day meant some time in town for those Year 8 who did not make it yesterday..some of them catching the latest Johnny English film (a sequel to the film the boarders watched two weeks ago!) and some quality down time playing Monopoly, table tennis, rugby and Just Dance on the PS4, as well as more baking.Noelina choose I am Pretty as the weekend movie and this was accompanied by cookies and pizza.

Quite contrast to yesterday's foul weather!

 Check out these moves!
 Looking forward to these!
James, Ivan and Archie enjoyed some table tennis - Mr Duke also had a few matches.

Still time to clean those school shoes!
Good night from Bath!
