Westwood Inter-House Orienteering Competition

Wednesday March 22nd.

The Inter-house Orienteering was held on Wednesday in drying conditions.  However, the going underfoot was soft and very muddy in places particularly through the woods.  All the competitors coped really well with the tricky conditions and adapted well to the exciting course set up by Mrs Hallett and her excellent team.

The children set off at regular intervals - every 30 secs -  and their finish time is printed out by the computer.

The race to the first check point.  We use the modern electronic system of punching.

Westwood at the Hollywood Bowl

The boarders all enjoyed their trip this week to the Hollywood Bowl at Cribbs Causeway.  All the children had two games - without bumpers - to try to hit their highest score.  No max scores of 300 this time but good practice was had by all including the odd chip here and there.

Taetae was eager to prove that he had actually scored a double strike.

Oscar was not too sure what to do with this large round thing.
Despite the lack of bumpers he was pleased to record his highest score and got better as the round progressed and even managed to eventually remove his coat.

Dario making the most of the catering facilities on offer at the Hollywood Bowl.

Eloise staring desperately at lots of money behind class.

As always Polina wins on the machines.

Top bowlers today were Polina and Taetae, well done.
