Cinema Trip and a Birthday celebrated!

Bath is gearing up for Christmas and the lights were officially switched on very recently. The Christmas Market around the Abbey attracts many visitors and the queues for the buses snake round many streets! This weekend Westwood boarders headed to the Odeon to see JK Rowling's latest offering called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them starring Eddie Redmayne in 3D. The pupils enjoyed the film enormously and all the popcorn and other snacks. The walk there and back is certainly good exercise given the steep climb back up to school. We have also celebrated Karan's 13th Birthday; he kindly shared out a bountiful supply of Haribo and we all enjoyed Mrs Hollywell's cakes tonight. Another lovely weekend in Westwood House.

Wonderful response for the Food Bank from Westwood Pupils with many Christmas Items!

All the pupils and staff  in Westwood have galvanised their efforts to donate at least one Christmas item to the Food Bank in the lead up to Advent. The generosity shown has been incredible and the container as you can see from the pictures below is really full; it will hopefully have a very positive impact within the local community for those in need. Many thanks!

Homemade pizzas, baked fruit and an Autumnal Walk!

The boarders worked really hard in teams to produce a delicious Sunday Lunch orchestrated by Mrs Mainwaring. The shoppers brought back all the ingredients, whilst a team of table layers (Sunichi, Tae-Tae, Perry & Sasha) and pizza base makers (Henri, Colby, Polina and Isabella )got to work.  The chopping was done by Nino, Ningwa, Mink, Yuma, Isabella, Oscar & Johnny. The tomato sauce was made by Karan and Dario. The potato salad was made by Rachel and Yuma knocked up a yummy dessert accompanied by ice cream. The pupils enjoyed a variety of toppings which included mushrooms, peppers, pepperoni, onions, cheese, sausage, ham, sweetcorn and pineapple. The bases were very authentic and crispy. Many pupils had 'Seconds' of pizza before the scrummy dessert! We need to stretch our legs, but not before Sasha, Sunichi, Perry and Kenneth did a great job tidying up!

Lunch was followed by a walk through the woods. The ground was a bit boggy in places and the floor was covered in leaves. The views across Bath and towards Kelston Round Hill were spectacular. Another great weekend in Westwood House!

 Autumn 'Dab' from the Middle!

Westwood Boarders support the Bath Foodbank

The pupils in Westwood have all been challenged to donate one Christmas item to the Bath Foodbank. Items needed include Advent Calendars, Festive Biscuits and Christmas Puddings to help families less fortunate experience some Christmas Cheer in December. You will see from the pictures below that the Boarders have also embraced this initiative. The next collection takes place on Tuesday 15 November and the large container in the Theatre foyer is very full!
