Christmas shopping, the markets and cakes!

We ventured to the Christmas Market around Bath Abbey today with Mrs Cook. There were plenty of stalls to enjoy and town was very busy. The pupils were all carrying bags back up the hill, so hopefully some of the purchases will make it home and be placed under Christmas trees around the world! This morning Westwood pupils enjoyed playing a mixture of badminton, basketball and table tennis. Mrs Duke has been on duty for the last time this weekend and at our final meeting of the day we all enjoyed beautifully decorated cakes with a Christmas motif. Happy Christmas to you all!

Advent Service and Dinner.

On Sunday we had our annual Advent service and Dinner starting at 6pm.  Rev Hull led a lovely candlelit service in which Poppy read really well.
This was followed by a meal served by the catering team.  The starters of poppadoms,  onion bhaji. pakoras and samosas with mango chutney was followed by chicken tikka masala on the bone with basmati rice and sour cream.  Dessert was a lemon merinque pot with stem ginger biscuit.  Really super food.  The evening was rounded off with the annual Mr H quiz.

The boys all ready for a night out.  All looking very smart.  Even the shoes have been polished.

All the ladies look lovely.  Mrs H as gorgeous as ever.

Mr Duke and the WW boarders choir up in the loft with organist Mr Knights.

Many thanks to all the catering staff for a fantastic meal and service.

House lunch, Games and lovely autumnal stroll!

Westwood boarders worked effectively in teams to produce a delicious Sunday lunch of Spaghetti Bolognese under the watchful eye of Miss Edwards. The mushroom and onion chopping team consisted of Tomiwo, Polina, Avyash, Ritika, Charlie, Natalie, Karan, Ayooluwa and Kiera; the latter de-cored 24 Bramleys for the caramelized baked apples which were accompanied by raisins, demerara sugar, cinammon and vanilla ice cream. Avyash was in charge of condiments and herbs, whilst Karan spiced up his vegetarian version! The tables were laid by Dima, Donald W, Ong and Rohan. The tidying up team consisted of Eleanor, Oscar, Johnny, the table layers, Donald N and Cartoon.  Gabrielle showed silky skills with Henry the vacuum cleaner to make the place look spotless. The clean plates evinced how delicious the meal! It was a great team bonding exercise. The kitchen now looks pretty tidy given the hive of activity it was earlier today. Some useful life skills have been acquired!

Having eaten very well, Miss Edwards took some of the girls off a postprandial walk to see the various crescents in Bath as the sunset, while the others headed to the sports hall for basketball, bench-ball, table tennis and squash with Mr Duke. A game of round-the-world table tennis was fiercely contested. Donald W and Ong showed great touch in the basketball and the girls netball passing skills came to the fore in bench-ball .
