Week 3 - Into the Woods

The pace of term-time life at Kingswood is now well established and, despite ongoing periods of fatigue, spirits were high with our boarders this weekend. Our Saturday sporting fixtures preceded the obligatory trip into town, which this week was followed by a film that sported guile and style in equal measure: Ocean's 13.

Today took the boarders on a team building trip to Hidden Woods, a Forest School outside of Bath. Here, Westwood joined up with our Prep School boarders at High Vinnals to partake in team building and survival adventure tasks, embracing the shelter and calm-laden leaflands of the woods. Do please take some time to enjoy the range of videos and images below; @KWS_Westwood is always available for our day-to-day updates and news. Until Week 4...

There's always time for a group photo!

Then followed the briefing and introduction to survival skills!

The command to go forth and conquer nature soon followed.

Week 2 - Pizza, Hike and Sunshine

Bath has been blessed by an Indian Summer which was great for those playing sport and on the Year 8 Hike, too. Yesterday a good number of the Year 8 girls had hockey and the boys rugby. The film last night chosen by the Year 8 girls was Liar Liar starring the hilarious Jim Carey.
Whilst Arcus, Max and Unnav headed off on the hike the rest of the House headed on foot (always easier down the hill). We were taken through our pizza experience with the affable Alex. We learnt to crink the edges of the dough to get a good crust before adding our toppings as shown below.
We all had to wear the correct head gear and an apron!

 Tomato base.
Pepporoni proved very popular along with chicken, ham and olives.

A few even added Jalepenos and spinach.

 Ready for baking!

 These need to be baked!

 Happiness!

 Yummy!

The pizza turned James (after he had eaten everyone's leftovers) into a Marvel character!
Evidence that Bath is gearing up for the Rugby World Cup in Mrs Duke's home country, Japan.
Having eaten well, we all played Danish Long Ball - check out the blue sky!

The boarders were great company this weekend and friendships are being cemented. Do check out @KWS_Westwood for more comments and photos.

Week 1 - The journey has begun

The first week of settling into a new school and boarding community is never easy. For our new Year 7 and 8 Westwood boarders, they have done particularly well this week, navigating the many avenues of information sharing, classroom corridors and activity choices. Feelings of settled-ness are gradually setting in and the community is supporting one another as much as can be asked.

The weekend typically brings time for rest, recuperation and relaxation, following a busy week at school. This Saturday, the Westwood boarders enjoyed the opportunity to (re)familiarise themselves with Bath city centre and its array of shopping delights! After stocking up on their tuck box supplies and enjoying important time with friends, our boarders relaxed into a Saturday night movie. This week, it was the comedy gem: Get Smart.

Today, sunshine blanketed Bath and so it was an ideal opportunity for our boarders to get out and enjoy this weekend's trip to Crazy Golf! With a variety of course challenges - requiring a keen eye and some good fortune - 18 holes were conquered by teams of boarders and staff. Everyone enjoyed themselves and managed to relax ahead of the second week of term. Do please take some time to enjoy the images below of our outing; we look forward to updating you again soon.

A fine afternoon for a spot of Crazy Golf...

...at least the Staff seem to think so!

Eye-ing the line carefully.

A momentary pause in proceedings for a photograph!

One shot made a water hole, but to whom is the ball being returned?
